Una ciudad de caos, la mayoría podrá decir que pasar mas de dos días en Bangkok es demasiado, pero hasta el monstruo más feo tiene su encanto. (Batuta "Rudo y Cursi")
Bangkok, is a crazy and chaotic city, it's hard to get a moments peace staying in the backpacker area near the famous Khao San road as every two steps someone is trying to sell you something, offer you a tuk tuk ride or take you to a ping pong show! A cheap tailor made suit sounds great, but not ideal whilst backpacking. Its not for the fainthearted, but amongst the chaos there are some great places to see.
Democracy Monument
Caminar por las calles de Bangkok es entretenido sobre, tuktuks ( el semejante de las pulmonias en Mazatlán o para mis amigos chilangos que no conocen el termino usen Google) estan en todas partes invitandote a pasear y conocer lo mejor de Bangkok: Big Buddha, Golden Buddha, Buddha, Buddha y ping pong. Cabe mencionar que los conductores hablan perfecto inglés "Hello mateeee", conocen su mercado.
Khao san road
Visitamos templos impresionantes, uno de los templos que pude disfrutar más fue Wat Benjamabophit (Templo de mármol), eramos solo 3 o 4 turistas y el resto personas locales, al estar dentro del templo o sentada en los jardines sentí una vibra distinta.
We visited several temples, all very different apart from all the gold stuff! Anyone who knows me, knows I'm not a religious person, but I have to admit that some of these Buddhist temples have a special feel about them. The peaceful, shaded gardens gave us a nice break from the crowded and polluted streets.

Cerveza Chang, no es la más barata pero al final de la semana un vaso de Chang es bien merecido con el calor de Tailandia. Cold Chang beer from the back of a VW camper.

Decidimos hacer una parada en esta isla, es la más cercana a Bangkok, y ciertamente tiene su encanto. El primer día la isla nos recibió con nubles y fuertes lluvias pero durante los siguientes días el sol estuvo presente.
After a few weeks spent in cities, we made our way to the closest island, Koh Samet. Very small and hardly anything to do apart from chill on the beach, perfect! We were greeted by rain and dark skies, but this soon changed.

Eramos los únicos en el bar y solo fuimos por nuestra bebida we cortesía.
Nuestro primer viaje en tren en Asia y tuvimos que cambiar a autobus a la mitad de camino por una irregularidad en las vías. Our first Asian train ride seemed like a good idea until it broke and we had to wait 3 hours for a rail replacement bus, its was just like being at home!

Es una ciudad tranquila, el centro esta amurallado y es donde la mayoría de turistas nos hospedamos, al menos los que estamos en presupuesto económico. La gente es amigable y a diferencia de Bangkok, aquí los tuktuk te quieren vender boletos para ir a ver Thai Boxing.
An old walled city in the North with a much more relaxed feel than Bangkok. Great tasting cheap food and some brilliant day trips were on offer, we took advantage of both!

Tuvimos la maravillosa oportunidad de pasar el día con elefantes. El primer paso es conocer al elefante, le dimos de comer elote, la mejor manera de ganarse el corazón de alguien.
We spent the day learning to be Mahouts (elephant handlers). First of all getting to know our new friend by feeding her, of course the way to anyone's heart! We then learned how to speak elephant before climbing on and taking a ride through the jungle.
Después nos vestimos con pijamas, o bueno con vestimentas de entrenadores de elefantes (mahout).

Iain domina el arte de ser un Mahout, por el otro lado creo que yo preferí la parte de darles de comer.
A natural, maybe this is the eco friendly transport that is needed in London.
En el camino al campamento, le dimos a Nely plátanos, un poco de motivación para nuestro elefante.

Y al final del día a refrescarse un poco. After all the hard work we all got to cool off and wash in the river.
Cuando el otro grupo estaba comiendo aprovechamos para jugar con uno de los mas pequeños.
I had been looking forward to this day for a long time and it didn't disappoint. We loved our time playing with the tigers, it was grrrrrrreeeat (sorry!) They were really playful and the staff seemed to genuinely care for them.
Nuestra visita con los tigres es una de las mejores de nuestro viaje. Pude ver como uno de los pequeños pretendía atacar a Iain por la espalda para jugar con su playera, me pareció bonito, claro que si hubiera sido un tigre adulto, ay mamita.
El tigre quería jugar...
... Pero no es permitido :(

Encontramos el mejor Pad Thai por tan solo 35bath (15 MXP). The best pad Thai I've ever had for about 80p, that can't be bad.

Nuestra primera noche fuimos a caminar y por accidente nos topamos con un mercado nocturno, nos pareció muy agradable y me hizo recordar los domingos en la plazuela frente a Catedral en Mazatlán, gente cantando y bailando.
Our last destination in Thailand was again very different from the last. On our first night we went to the local night market and were treated to the locals singing and dancing in the square. This was before the show got rained off. Rain would prove to be a bit of a constant here.
Otro atractivo es el show de luces del reloj de la ciudad, digamos que es peculiar y abradable.
Every night the clock in the middle of the main street would perform a light and sound show, so weird!
Wat Phra Khaeo
Wat Rong khun or the white temple
Es un templo poco convencional, una mezcla entre casa de horror y templo, encuentras a alien, depredador, superman, Michael Jackson, Freddy Kruger, Kungfu panda, angry birds y mas personajes. Fue una experiencia extraña, aún mas con la fuerte lluvia de ese día.
The white temple is a very weird experience, both the inside ( no pics allowed) and outside are covered in sculptures and images of characters from popular culture including superheroes, sci fi creatures and scariest of all, Michael Jackson! All of this surrounded the buddah images and working temple inside.
Después de una tormenta en el templo blanco, nuestra camara sufrió daños, esta es una de sus últimas fotos en Wat Phra That Doi Tong. Como camara emergente usaremos el IPhone de Iain que podrán ver en los siguientes posts.
The constant rain finally took it's toll on my trusty old camera our blog posts for a while may have to be using pics from my ancient phone instead.
