Made in Taiwan

Taiwan (24/06/13)

As soon as we saw our airline had Hello Kitty planes, we knew we were in for a culture shock here! Through bleary eyes after a very long flight our first thoughts were that Taipei is incredibly hot, humid, clean and totally different from anywhere else I have been. The people are so polite that some seem shy to speak to you and very few people speak English here. Our first experineces of ordering food was walking in one of the many underground (airconditioned!) malls and pointing at what other people where eating, but we soon learnt that the night markets are definitly the place to eat here. Talking of eating, that was out main passtime in Taiwan! They eat some food that is a bit scary for what we are used to but I can honestly say that we ate some of the best food here that I've ever had.

In the day the streets are full of 1000's of scooters and at night they are replaced with people!

Taipei 101 was the world's tallest building

All you need is love!

Changing of the guards at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

"Big Pow", at night you can plug your ipod/phone into him and it played the music!

A toilet themed restaurant. Eating a sausage out of a mini toilet bowl sounds like an experience, but one we gave this a miss!

The Presidential office building

The best dumplings....ever!

Our first night staying with our friendly couchsurfing host took us for some very different food, Stinky tofu with duck blood!

Confucius temple
