Bukit Lawang es un pequeño lugar alrededor del río, es un lugar mágico, la buena vibra se siente desde que llegas. El ambiente es muy relajado, cantar y tocar guitarra bajo las estrellas todas las noches es un privilegio que las personas de BL tienen.
Sumatra had been on my radar for years due to my lifelong fascination of tigers but I didn't know much else about it. Indonesia's massive northern island isn't the easiest place to travel as the transport system is erm...basic, but if anywhere is worth a few hours of discomfort then it's here. Sitting out under the stars, with great company a few beers and guitar, I instantly felt at home here and if it wasn't for small things like visas and money I'd probably still be there! Oh, and although no tiger sightings, I did once see something orange amongst the jungle!
Local holiday makers from the closest city Medan took every opportunity to practice their English, this would not be the last time!
Acampamos en el parque nacional por una noche, sabíamos que hay Orangutanes y es posible verlos pero nunca imaginamos que ibamos a estar tan cerca de ellos, tuvimos la oportunidad de ver una mamá orangután con su bebe. La naturaleza es mágica.
The best way to see some of the wildlife and make friends with the orange men of the Jungle is to spend a couple of days trekking and camping out. A truly magical (and musical) experience.

Nuestro campamento, y un vecino tratando de robar nuestra comida. Our Jungle home, basic but with beautiful scenery and friendly furry neighbors although a couple cheeky troublemakers got into our camp at night and tried to steal the food.

Adiós Bukit Lawang, siempre tendrás un lugar muy especial en mi corazón.
A relativity short visit but Bukit Lawang will always be a special place for us so we decided to take a souvenir back with us
Lake Toba (11/11/2013)
Otro lugar maravilloso en Sumatra, relajado y alegre. Una isla en medio del lago volcánico mas grande, con paisajes y colores radiantes. La comida es impresionante, la música es parte del día a día y la gente es sin igual, detienen sus carro para saludar, platicar y conocer acerca del lugar de donde vienes.
We traveled down from Bukit Lawang with our Dutch and Aussie jungle brothers and sisters to Lake Toba and stayed on an island in the world's largest volcanic lake. Beautiful scenery, crystal clear water, great food and more warm friendly people. It's safe to say that Sumatra was one of the real highlights of the whole trip.

Gran ciudad en la isla de Java en donde nos deleitamos con las delicias culinarias y tratamos de absorber un poco mas la cultura de Indonesia.
It's not the capital city of Indonesia, but Java's "Jogja" could be considered a cultural capital with more than it's fair share of palaces and temples.

Set in miles of greenery and surrounded by three volcanoes, Borodobudur instantly makes an impression. In our time away we had seen a lot of Buddhist temples but this one was very different. Walking up and round each level there is loads of carvings telling stories and each level represents the journey to Nirvana.

Bromo
Después de un largo y cardiaco viaje en minivan llegamos a nuestro detino, sentimos el frío y la oscuridad de la noche. Dormimos 4 horas para despertar y ver el amanecer en la cima del volcán Bromo.
After a slightly scary journey in the in rain and the dark in a minibus without lights or wipers we got to Bromo in time for a couple of hours to rest before climbing the summit before sunrise

Rinca and Flores
Una breve parada en Flores y Rinca para ver los últimos dragones en la tierra, Komodos. Caminamos en la isla de Rinca en busca de ellos, vimos la mayoría tomando sol cerca de la entrada al parque nacional. El guía nos comentó que son uno de los animales mas peligrosos en el mundo, siempre es agradable saber que puedes convertirte en la cena de alguien.
Our brief trip to Rinca was for one reason, to see the Dragons. Walking on Rinca island among the dinosaurs felt like visiting Jurassic park.

Bali
Con una amplia playa en Kuta, tablas de surf y gente de Indonesia hablando en acento Australiano, Bali fue una agradable y comfortable despedida de la cultura Asiatica.
Bali was our last Asian destination before Australia and was a great place to eat, drink and be merry enjoying comfortable accommodation before going back to big hostels and dorm rooms. The people here are really chilled out, well what would you expect when surfing is the favorite pastime.
